The next “Survivor” series?

What is it about when you have a busy day lined up for work that all 3 of your kids decide to start vomiting within half an hour of each other! That is me today…poor me. What I am worried about more than any other thing is “who will go down with it next?”

I just have to share with you are good joke a friend sent me today. This is guaranteed to cheer you up. I publish this with all copyright acknowledged, if indeed there is any, to whoever wrote this to start with. I’m sure that the mums out there will like this one as much as all my friends did:

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.
Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.
There is no fast food.
Each man must take care of his 3 kids;keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of ‘pretend’ bills with not enough money.
In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.
Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards outon time-no emailing.
Each man must alsotake each child to a doctor’s appointment,a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment. He must makeone unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the A & E. He must also make biscuits or cakes for a social function.
Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.
The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.
The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewellery, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed.
During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties. They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find timeat least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting. They will need toread a book to the kidseach night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 8:00 am.
A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child’s birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor’s name. Also the child’s weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labour, each child’s favourite colour, middle name, favourite snack, favourite song, favourite drink, favourite toy, biggest fear andwhat they want to be when they grow up.
The kids vote them off the island based on performance.
The last man wins only if…he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment’s notice.
If the last man does win,he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right to be called Mum!

And now…back to labels!

The highs and lows of the label market

The problem with name labels for clothing is that many of the iron on ones are just not always up to the job. That is why we have introduced the new Stikins ® name label products which simply stick onto the wash care label of school uniforms and school clothes, no sewing in or ironing on is required. Millions of these labels are now in use and we receive many re-orders from parents.
IRON ON LABELS
Some iron on labels are now very good but equally some are useless, the problem for parents is that all suppliers will say their labels are good, and there is no way of knowing until the labels are in a washing machine what the quality is like. Hot irons and children do not mix, so attaching iron on labels will be a job for adults. Stikins ® labels can be applied by older children, Stikins ® are also easier and much more convenient to use.
PREFER TO IRON OR SEW ON BELOW THE COLLAR?
Saying that, there are some customers who for their own reasons prefer to have iron on or sew on labels put on the collar of the uniform instead as they cut off the care labels from the uniform. In those cases if you like the traditional look then there is the sewon woven label but myself I am into ease of use and no work! I prefer the easy to use iron on labels which may look a bit boring but they come in either pink, blue or white labels and they do the job admirably.
For a while we offered a woven look iron on and also an economy tape. Of late, as often happens in the industry, we have not been impressed with the quality of these 2 lines and as we thoroughly test our products on a regular basis we have decided to drop these 2 from the range until we can find better similar products that do what they say – iron on and stay on. The best of these is currently definately the easy to use iron on with no image option, and next best the Original iron on labels with a polyester shiny finish and an image.
SEW ON LABELS
Sew on labels are the most attractive clothing labels for parents who have the time to sew labels in, or can pay somebody else to sew them in, then sew on name labels are a good durable solution. For non-sewers, busy parents or large families sew in labels can be a nightmare.
LAUNDRY MARKER PENS
You can simply write in your child’s name with a laundry marker pen, if your child’s name is short or can be easily abbreviated this can be a good cheap solution. The problem is that many garment tags do not leave any space for writing a name. The result may not look particularly good, and may fade away. Also children like to see their own names in full rather than an abbreviated version. The full name is also good for children who are learning to recognise their name.
STIKINS ® NAME LABELS SOLUTION
Obviously, washing machines are designed to remove dirt from clothes using friction, heat and detergents. So the environment in a washing machine is one of the most hostile places for labels. Extensive tests and a new understanding of why labels fail enabled us to develop the product we now sell. The garment labels are made from a nylon material which has a unique adhesive coating on the back. As you wash and dry the labelled garments you will see that the stikins ® label becomes more and more bonded to the wash care label. On the front of the label there is a special coating which is designed to exactly match the pigments we use to print the labels, the print will almost certainly outlast the life of most garments. The special “H” shape enables the vertical bars of the “H” to overlap at the back of the wash care label, the overlap is essential, and you can use a second “H” or a shoe name label if the garment wash care label is too wide. You could also trim the width of the wash care label if you wish.
CONCLUSION ON CLOTHING LABELS
There are several methods for labelling school clothing, all of which have advantages and drawbacks. The particular method you choose: Sew in, Iron on, Marker pen or Labels4kids Stikins®, will of course depend on what is important to you. Millions of garments are labelled with Stikins® name labels and obviously we hope you will try them.
VINYL LABELS AND BAG TAGS
I have to say of our entire range we get virtually no complaints about the quality of these two products and are very pleased with their durability, colours and designs. The only query people have on vinyl labels is what they can be used on (which is almost everything other than clothing fabric like for examples, boxes, bottles, bags, or any hard flat surface) and on when they can get some more! By far the biggest of our range do try them as you will find that even the shoe labels will outlast the life cycle of the shoes if they are applied with the clear plastic cover into the heel.
Hope that helps you all trying to locate the best label solution for you. Another boring but useful update from Ann-Maree and the gang at labels4kids!
